Blessing of monks in PhuketMandy – Ralf
I am happy to send another email a few weeks after the wedding day / the monk’s blessing and ask my bridal couples for a kind of experience report or feedback.
Often my couples are already caught up in everyday life again and this is a nice opportunity to pause and reflect on the wedding day.
I would like to share Mandy and Ralf’s experience report with you below.
Hello dear Thomas,
Since our wedding was not quite so typical, I would like to answer your questions freely in an email.
Why did we decide to get married in Thailand?
Well, the venue wasn’t even fixed from the beginning, but was more of a development. I did a lot of research on the Internet about the various wedding agencies and of course I also asked about procedures and price comparisons. The whole world was actually open as a possible location. And the country then determined the date of the wedding. From a wedding in the Swiss mountains, to a real wedding on a cruise ship, to beach weddings, either the Caribbean, Seychelles, Asia, Australia or even the South Seas were an option.
But I quickly realized that a real wedding on the beach would be too much bureaucracy for me. Maybe I didn’t really feel like it because of my job, but it was just some kind of feeling without a reason.
When I read your “invitation to tender”, especially the monk blessing in the temple, I realized that this was exactly what appealed to me, including the way you write. I quickly looked into Buddhism again and then that was the right feeling for me to make the suggestion to Ralf. And you know the outcome. And that also answers your second question.
The marriage proposal took place in July 2018 and from then on the planning slowly began.
What would we do differently next time?
As far as the wedding is concerned: NOTHING! We still agree to this day and are certain that the day could not have been more beautiful for us. We would only plan more time for the round trip. There are simply far too many beautiful places in Thailand that deserve more time to explore. So we’ll just have to come back again. Maybe it’s still possible for our first wedding anniversary.
Our wedding day was simply amazing from the first to the last minute. Our icing on the cake came in the form of your beaming husband, the photographer. We have never met such an infectious smile in our lives.
